Walking down the road to get some milk on Tuesday night I discovered that the Co-op at Ballyhackamore is no more. Sign down and all boarded up.
Is it closed for renovation? Or has the advent of massive competition from Tesco Express and M&S Simply Food closed it down for good?

Yes after 40 odd years it closed without anybody even batting an eyelid. It had been closed for about 2 weeks when people started saying; "Hey did you notice the Co-op isn't open any more?"
But we do miss the Co - I wonder if it's sitting empty and boarded up while someone gets planning permission for some more pesky apartments and townhouses!
